Students take control of their own education by enrolling in the online course of their choice through Florida Virtual School (FLVS). Class is supervised by a Millennium Academy teacher and is entirely computer-based: LAPTOPS ARE REQUIRED EVERY DAY!
Millennium Academy students study the art of language through a variety of mediums. Traditional grammar and mechanics, comprehension, and writing skills are taught through the study of literature, music, drama, and the visual arts. Students are also encouraged to explore a wide variety of content through our weekly Book Club program and discover their passion for reading.
This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers and quadratic functions. The content of this course are important for students’ success on the ACT, SAT, and college mathematics entrance exams.
This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to solve (prove) properties of geometric figures.
This course is designed to prepare students for a first year algebra course. It embellishes traditional topics to provide a challenging treatment of arithmetic, geometric, algebraic, and statistical topics. Students explore and develop concepts related to variable expressions, equations and inequalities, geometry, rational numbers, probability, formulas, and percents.
This course focuses upon the properties of the real number system and data analysis techniques. Topics including estimation, number theory, pre-algebra, measurement, and probability and statistics to form the foundation for the study of advanced mathematics.
At Millennium Academy, we believe in the power of hands-on learning, especially when it comes to the sciences. Here at Millennium Academy, we are excited to now be offering a fascinating class in 3D printing. Transforming the fields of design, architecture, engineering, and manufacturing, this creative technology is shaping the future. To obtain the skills needed for this cutting-edge fabrication process, our students will construct actual three-dimensional physical objects from digital files they’ve created themselves. The knowledge and experience obtained from this 3D printing class are highly marketable and a prerequisite in many innovative careers.
Our web design program gets into the fundamentals of website design architecture and raw HTML/CSS coding with responsive design framework. We also will be working with WordPress a popular content management system. Students are taught how to set up a basic shopping cart system and learn the essentials of creating, managing, and directing ads through affiliate marketing programs on the web.
